Natalie Portman Is After Some Good Old-Fashioned Revenge in the First Trailer for ‘Jane Got a Gun’

Is this actually happening? Could Jane Got a Gun finally be heading our way? I say that because there was a time not to long ago when it looked like the film would never see the light of day. Following the departure of its original director, its original star Jude Law left with him. That then left the door open for Bradley Cooper to step in, only to see him exit later on. All in all, the film was finally put on track and finally given a release date, which got us all excited again like we were from the very beginning.

The Western, which should have no problem drawing audiences in as it stars Natalie Portman in a strong female role, finally has its first trailer. The only issue is that the following international trailer does the film no justice, as the editing is completely off base; it’s cut in a way that’s just sloppy. Considering the kind of talent that’s involved both in front of and behind the camera, this is not the kind of first trailer I was expecting for a film that I’ve truly been looking forward to.

I’m crossing my fingers that the cut for the international trailer is just poor compared to a domestic trailer that will hopefully arrive some time soon. Take a look below and decide for yourself…

Just feels off, right? Don’t get me wrong, I’m still very much looking forward to this film. As I said above, I have been since the beginning. The premise is awesome, the cast is outstanding, and I’m pumped to see Natalie Portman get back to true award-winning worthy form, as well as Joel Edgerton following a string of pretty strong roles. Anyway, here’s the official synopsis for the film:

Jane Got a Gun centers on Jane Hammond (Natalie Portman), who has built a new life with her husband Bill “Ham” Hammond (Noah Emmerich) after being tormented by the ultra-violent Bishop Boys outlaw gang. She finds herself in the gang’s cross-hairs once again when Ham stumbles home riddled with bullets after dueling with the Boys and their relentless mastermind Colin (Ewan McGregor). With the vengeful crew hot on Ham’s trail, Jane has nowhere to turn but to her former fiancé Dan Frost (Joel Edgerton) for help in defending her family against certain destruction. Haunted by old memories, Jane’s past meets the present in a heart-stopping battle for survival.
