The first official trailer for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies has been released! Way back when the film was first announced, many were bagging on the idea and just complaining that the studio was completely reaching, not to mention that zombie films are like clockwork these days. But as it hit production and drew closer, it actually began to grow on people.
Now that its first trailer has been released, it solidifies that this was no spoof and that it could actually work, and in a big way. Although I’ve heard it’s a much different and shorter trailer than the one released back at SDCC, the trailer teases that the film will deliver on what the title promises. And whatever you may think of it or whether or not you even want it, the trailer is worth checking out just for the curiosity.
If you’re a fan of Jane Austen at all, the first minute and a half or so should definitely satisfy you, as it displays the kind of elegance and manners that come with the time period. Then the last quarter or so rolls around and man does it deliver the kind of goods that the back half of the title promises. It’s a very nice tease as we get a look into the high-society setting and the kind of skills these ladies will be using to take down the undead. It’s completely silly, but oh so fun at the same time, and I can now say that Pride and Prejudice and Zombies has my attention.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is a fresh twist on Jane Austen’s widely celebrated novel. A mysterious plague has fallen upon 19th century England, the land is overrun with the undead and feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is a master of martial arts and weaponry. Casting aside personal and social prejudices, Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy must unite on the blood-soaked battlefield to rid the country of the zombie menace and discover their true love for one another..
