The most important piece of Bad Boys 3 has just confirmed that its happening.
For the past couple years, its been franchise co-star Martin Lawrence who’s been pushing for another Bad Boys film to happen. During that time, I haven’t heard a peep from his co-star Will Smith. If you want to get technical, Smith’s career has been much busier (and successful) than Lawrence’s in the last five years.
Then something happened to Smith a few years ago, and that something was After Earth. It brought the former “King of the Box Office” back down to earth and humbled him again. Now, Smith is back choosing the right roles (Suicide Squad), and has even given fans an update on Bad Boys 3 (via. interview w/ Beats 1 Studio).
“There is a very, very, very strong possibility that you will be seeing a ‘Bad Boys’ within the next 12-16 months.”
I take this as confirmation there’s been movement on this project behind closed doors regarding producers and the two franchise stars. Earlier this past summer, director Joe Carnahan (The Grey) was in talks to direct a script written by David Guggenheim (Safe House). The only thing that’s been in question was Will Smith, well him and Michael Bay.
I’m excited for more Bad Boys films. Sony has plans for two more, and both cannot happen without Martin Lawrence and Will Smith.
Now that Will Smith is involved, are you looking forward to Bad Boys 3? Let us know. You can also check out Smith’s interview with Beats 1 Studio below.
