Paramount Pictures has just released the debut trailer for their next big drama, The Big Short. The 2005 economic crisis based film is directed by Adam McKay, who is mostly known for his comedy chops. It also features one of the best ensemble casts you’ll see all year, led by the academy award nominee names you see above.
This first trailer does an incredible job of introducing us to something that only a small percentage of people really know of. Not knowing myself, I got a perfect little summary into what The Big Short is all about. And as comes with a film having this many big names attached, it just scratches the surface of the kind of award level performances we’ll see come later this year. Check it out:
Like I said, pretty damn good. No wonder the studio swapped release dates, because McKay’s first true drama-outing has Oscar potential plastered all over it. Just a few years ago, we got a somewhat similar film in The Wolf of Wall Street. Now although The Big Short doesn’t seem to have that crazy-ness involved, it still very much has that exciting feel to it. I’ve never really been and probably won’t ever be, but I’m really looking forward to seeing what went down in these events.
The Big Short is now slated for a December 25th, 2015 release. Directed by Adam McKay starring Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt, Melissa Leo, Hamish Linklater, John Magaro, Rafe Spall, Jeremy Strong, Marisa Tomei and Finn Wittrock.
