Adam McKay, a director known for comedy films, makes his drama debut in The Big Short. The first trailer has arrived featuring a rock star cast in a true story.
This is a film I’m very excited about for several reasons, some of which I just stated. The cast alone is a huge buy, with Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling, Steve Carrell, and Brad Pitt. I’m also a sucker for films that focus on true events in real life. The financial collapse of 2008 was very ugly, and this film will expose all the idiots responsible for letting it happen.
McKay is directing, with a script based off the Michael Lewis non-fiction bestseller The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine. Although this will be a drama film, you can see McKay’s humor sprinkled all throughout the trailer. See for yourself below.
When four outsiders saw what the big banks, media and government refused to, the global collapse of the economy, they had an idea: The Big Short. Their bold investment leads them into the dark underbelly of modern banking where they must question everyone and everything. Based on the true story and best-selling book by Michael Lewis (The Blind Side, Moneyball), and directed by Adam Mckay (Anchorman, Step Brothers) The Big Short stars Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt.
The Big Short has a wide release open date for December 23, 2015
