It’s hard to argue against anyone who says The Hunger Games franchise is one of the best of the last few years. Ever since the first film debuted back in 2012, the franchise has taken a stronghold on fans everywhere, both young and old. But in two months time, we’ll see the phenomenon of a franchise come to a close with Mockingjay – Part 2.
So far, the marketing for the film has promised one epic conclusion, and that’s exactly what we’re all hoping for. But before the heart of the marketing begins, those behind it have decided to take a step back and have us remember how the franchise began and what its accomplished, through the bond and love of Katniss and her sister Prim. Watch the brand new Mockingjay – Part 2 trailer below:
I’ve really come to enjoy this franchise. I wasn’t a huge fan of Mockingjay – Part 1, but I thought the first two films were done really well. Having friends who have read the books, I’m crossing all my crossable limbs that this final film will deliver on not just what its been promising, but on the last half of the third book as well. I know what goes on in that book and how gruesome it actually gets, so I’m really hoping they took this movie a step further and can deliver on that note.
At the same time, because I know what happens, I almost feel like this trailer might’ve been to much. I don’t want to give anything away for those who haven’t read the books, but this trailer does slightly touch on a major plot point for the final film. It doesn’t blatantly say it or show it, but it’s kind of out there and that bugs me a bit. So was the trailer good? Yeah, sure. But I feel like it just wasn’t needed. Just give us that final trailer that will blow our minds, that’s what we want.
With the nation of Panem in a full scale war, Katniss confronts President Snow (Donald Sutherland) in the final showdown. Teamed with a group of her closest friends – including Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Finnick (Sam Claflin), and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) – Katniss goes off on a mission with the unit from District 13 as they risk their lives to stage an assassination attempt on President Snow who has become increasingly obsessed with destroying her. The mortal traps, enemies, and moral choices that await Katniss will challenge her more than any arena she faced in The Hunger Games.
