The Toronto International Film Festival has been underway for a while now and one of the biggest pieces of news to come out of TIFF is about Ridley Scott’s The Martian. Now over the last few years, Scott has been in a shocking rut with movies such as The Counselor and Exodus: Gods and Kings, so much so that many (including myself) thought that he may never get out of it. Well, if TIFF has anything to say, then he sure as hell has gotten out of it.
I’ve tried to stay away as much as possible from any kind of word to mouth or reviews or anything regarding The Martian because I want to go in with a clear head and come out with my own opinion. But as much as I’ve tried, the word is just to good to stray from. That’s right, those who got the glorious chance to view the Matt Damon led film last week have been blabbering their little mouths about how good the film is and that Ridley Scott has returned to his true form. It is a pretty small sample size to this point, but it’s a really good sign at this point. The trailers have looked damn good so far, but as with most movies these days, they showed a TON of stuff, which made people hesitant towards it. But if we’re to take anything from TIFF, there seems to be much more to The Martian than what we’ve seen.
If you’re like me, you aren’t going to click play on any of the new clips below. But if you are still wondering if you should go see film or if you just want to see more, check out the three latest clips for the film. I haven’t watched them so I can’t say whether or not they contain any kind of spoilers or not, so watch at your own risk! Along with the clips, the official b-roll footage has been released and that is the one video you should check out as it gives a great behind-the-scenes look at the filming of The Martian.
The Martian lands in theaters October 2nd, 2015. Directed by Ridley Scott starring Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Jeff Daniels, Michael Peña, Kate Mara, Sean Bean, Sebastian Stan, Donald Glover, Mackenzie Davis, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
