Hollywood is about to give us our fourth Texas Chainsaw Massacre film within the last 12 years. The upcoming horror reboot titled Leatherface will serve as an origin story.
According to Collider’s description the film introduces a teenage Leatherface who escapes from a mental hospital with three other inmates. During the escape, he kidnaps a young nurse and they embark on a rather curious road trip with a deranged lawman hot on their tail.
Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury (ABCs of Death 2 segment “X is for Xylophone”) are directing, with Stephen Dorff (Blade) and Lili Taylor starring in the lead roles.
To be honest, I’m not looking forward to another Leatherface story. As much as I loved the 2003 reboot starring Jessica Biel, each film after that (The Beginning, Texas Chainsaw 3D) got worse and worse. However, I must admit this poster looks pretty cool in terms of foreshadowing the character’s fate. I’m curious to see what the trailer has to offers once it arrives.
Leatherface has an undetermined 2016 release date.
