Late last week, Empire Magazine revealed that their newest issue will heavily focus on a little movie called Star Wars: The Force Awakens. They released the two official cover shots, each of which focus on the dark and the light side. With this latest issue being all about Star Wars, expect to not only get a lot of insightful details, but some cool new images over the next few days as well.
Which leads to today, where Empire has released a brand new look at the film. An image which is hopefully the first of many, is all about the dark side as we get an up-close and personal look at one of the three villains of The Force Awakens, Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren. Take a look below:
It’s not a surprising or shockingly new image, but man is it awesome. We’ve seen shots of Kylo Ren wielding his crossguard lightsaber (Empire refers to it as a broadsaber) before, but it’s still a very telling image. The biggest thing coming from this new shot is the kind of landscape Ren is on. This is the first time we’ve seen a landscape other than Jakku, and that’s a great sign. Could we be traveling back to the forest moon of Endor? How about Yavin 4?
Everything we’ve seen from this character so far is extremely promising, it all points to Kylo Ren being another exciting and great addition to the strong Star Wars villains list. As many have stated and coming from J.J. Abrams himself, Ren isn’t just a mustache twirling villain. He has real depth and believes he is the hero of his own story, which is always where strong bad guys come from. Personally, I cannot freaking wait to see Ren in all his glory, he’s definitely one of the most exciting aspects of the film.
What do you think of the new image? Are you excited for a character like Kylo Ren? Who do you think he is? Sith relic hunter? Possibly the son of Han and Leia? Let me know below and as always, stay tune as I’ll have all the Star Wars news here.
