The Teaser Trailer for ‘London Has Fallen’ Has Gerard Butler Back in Action

Surprisingly, Antoine Fuqua’s Olympus Has Fallen ended up being a much better and more fun action movie than we first thought. And just as it should, the sequel ups the ante and the trailer delivers exactly what the title teases. The teaser trailer for London Has Fallen has landed and it packs a major punch as it pits Gerard Butler in the middle of an assassination attempt alongside the President of the red, white, and blue – check it out below.

The story begins in London, where the British Prime Minister has passed away under mysterious circumstances. His funeral is a must-attend event for leaders of the western world. However, what starts out as the most protected event on Earth turns into a deadly plot to kill the world’s most powerful leaders, devastate every known landmark in the British capital, and unleash a terrifying vision of the future. Only three people have any hope of stopping it: the President of the United States, his formidable Secret Service head (Gerard Butler), and an English MI-6 agent who rightly trusts no one.

It’s just a teaser trailer, but man does it bring the action. Building off of its title, this teaser literally makes it look like all of London is about to be destroyed. I like that the stakes are raised as well. Mike Banning is back on the President’s personal detail, and not only does he have to protect the President, but he has to find out who’s behind the assassination attempt of the world’s most powerful leaders at the same time. And just from shots of the teaser, it looks POTUS himself could be getting in on the action.

Yeah, it won’t be a Die Hard or something along those lines, but I’m looking forward to seeing the first full-length trailer because not only do I love seeing Butler kick some ass, but London Has Fallen looks like it could be a really fun, big, action-packed popcorn movie – just as its predecessor was.

London Has Fallen hits theaters January 22nd, 2016. Directed by Babak Najafi starring Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, Angela Bassett, Melissa Leo, Jackie Earle Haley, Robert Forster, and Morgan Freeman.
