20th Century Fox’s rebooted superhero movie Fantastic Four is now just a little over a month away and up until this point, we haven’t seen a ton of marketing for it. With giant tentpole films hitting theaters every week during the summer, it makes sense that we wouldn’t be seeing a lot until now.
So these new TV spots are more than likely the beginning of seeing a hell of a whole lot more on Josh Trank’s take on Marvel’s first family. There ins’t a bunch of new footage in these spots, but there’s enough cool moments to hold us over until we see more. More specifically, the moments involving Michael B. Jordan’s Johnny Storm/The Human Torch look pretty badass.
I will say that I don’t really like the Kanye West music in the background, actually at all. I get that it’s trying to give it a ‘new’ and ‘fresh’ vibe, but it just didn’t work for me. It may be that I’m not a big fan of West or that it just doesn’t really fit a superhero movie for me, especially one that seems much more deep and grounded than recent comic book movies.
I am excited for the film though. I get that it’s had its problems on set and blah blah blah, but everything I’ve seen tells me that Fantastic Four is going to be a pretty freaking awesome movie (hopefully). There’s no doubt it’ll be different, but I do expect to have a petty good time.
Fantastic Four hits theaters August 7th, 2015. Directed by Josh Trank starring Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell, Toby Kebbell, Reg E. Cathey, and Tim Blake Nelson.
