Do I need to say anymore? The first trailer for the final entry into The Hunger Games franchise is here! This is our first official look at the final chapter to one of today’s most successful franchises with Mockingjay – Part 2. FINALLY, the moment we’ve all been waiting, Katniss and the rebellion storm the Capitol to make President Snow pay for what he’s done.
Here’s the official synopsis:
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 now brings the franchise to its powerful fourth chapter in which Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) now fully realizes the stakes are no longer just for survival — they are for the future.
With the nation of Panem in a full scale war, Katniss confronts President Snow (Donald Sutherland) in the final showdown. Teamed with a group of her closest friends – including Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Finnick (Sam Claflin), and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) – Katniss goes off on a mission with the unit from District 13 as they risk their lives to stage an assassination attempt on President Snow who has become increasingly obsessed with destroying her. The mortal traps, enemies, and moral choices that await Katniss will challenge her more than any arena she faced in The Hunger Games.
Let me just say that this trailer is pretty damn epic, what a way to kick off the franchise finale. The Hunger Games movies have surprisingly been some of the overall best of the last few years. They have not only satisfied each and every fan of the books, but created a completely new set of fans with what this franchise has been able to accomplish on screen.
I am part of the minority who was slightly disappointed with Mockingjay – Part 1, but even so, I knew exactly what it was building towards. The moment I walked out of the theater that night I was ready for what was coming and next, and this trailer is such a great start. It sets the tone and stakes very high for this highly, highly anticipated film and I’m STOKED to see it all go down.
On a side note, I really like that the trailer is under two minutes. Nowadays we see so many trailers near that three minute mark and give A TON of the movie away, but not this. One of this year’s most looked forward to movies understands what to give and what to not give, and I’m damn glad.
