Earlier this month, we learned a good amount of character details concerning Star Wars: The Force Awakens. One question has long remained of who Andy Serkis will be playing. There’s been lots of speculation on whether his character will consist of motion capture or not, along with if he’ll side with The Resistance or The First Order. Part of that question has now been answered. Vanity Fair has released a photo of Serkis in mo-cap gear as Supreme Leader Snoke.
Sounds like an evil person if you ask me, and I’m not saying that just cause. If you listen to that dark voice at the beginning of the first teaser trailer, that’s Serkis speaking. Also look at his face in the picture above. That is evil right there. Besides rumors and speculation, no further information on his character has been revealed. I’d imagine we’ll see him appear in a future trailer or character poster.
As for the reveal, I personally don’t think there was any doubt, as to whether or not you cast the man who gave us Gollum (LOTR), Kong (King Kong) and Caesar (Dawn of Apes) to play a motion capture character. As talented as he is as an actor, I would rather see him give us something visually remarkable. Can’t wait to see the end result come later this year.
