Even with all the backlash that happened in pre-production and production, Fantastic Four is still alive and kicking pretty damn well. The first trailer released was a good starting point, showing the world and style of characters Josh Trank and his team are creating. Then that second trailer hit the universe and boom, it seemed like all that backlash was no longer relevant.
Like many others, I one-hundred percent dug that second trailer. I did like the first trailer, but the follow-up clearly blew it out of the water. It triumphed at highlighting what the Fantastic Four were all about, including the amazing banter that takes place between the team. It’s so good that it’s the last thing I need to see before the movie. But of course that isn’t the case in today’s movie marketing world, which leads to the newly released character posters for Fantastic Four, giving us some great close-up shots of the team and their ‘containment suit’ uniforms.
You know, I’ll admit that when I got a first look at the new suits the team would be wearing for this reboot, I absolutely without a doubt hated them. But shockingly, they’ve been growing on me much more than I thought they would over the last few months. It makes since that they are more ‘containment suits’ for now as the team (and others) don’t really know what they’re dealing with to start. The only one I’m still kind of shaking my head at is Reed Richards, I guess it’s one of those ‘have to wait until you see it’ type of thing.
Now that I do get a full and up-close looks at the characters and their suits, the more grounded take works pretty well, especially with Sue and Johnny Storm. They are simple enough, but feature plenty to fit the character and their newly found abilities. Plus, it helps to be okay with these looks when you come to find out that the classic blue uniforms from the comics will be making their way to the characters at some point, most likely near the end when the team realizes that they are, well, a team.
What are your thoughts on the new posters? Are you excited for the Fantastic Four?
