What’s being called “The Fight of the Century” finally happens tomorrow night (picking Mayweather). As I suspected, a brand new TV spot for Southpaw has released on the web. The boxing/drama stars Jake Gyllenhaal as boxer Billy Hope, who suffers tragic loss during the peak of his career. Soon after Billy is also at risk to lose everything that matters to him the most. This TV spot puts a focus on the father-daughter element of the story, and with the quick cuts of fight sequences in the ring, Southpaw looks to offer the perfect blend of action and drama.
Southpaw is directed by Antoine Fuqua (The Equalizer) and written by Kurt Sutter (Sons of Anarchy). The film stars Forest Whitaker, Rachel McAdams, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Rita Ora, Naomie Harris and Victor Ortiz.
SOUTHPAW – the story of Billy “The Great” Hope, Junior Middleweight Boxing Champion of the World. When tragedy strikes and he loses it all, Billy enters the battle of his life as he struggles to become a contender once again and win back those he loves.
