Skin Trade Looks Action Filled, Starring Lundgren, Jaa, White, and Perlman

My first reaction to hearing about this action film, Skin Trade was not of excitement, especially when I read the words co-wrote, produced, and starring Dolph Lundgren. Then I saw the supporting cast and trailer, and now my feelings on the film are completely opposite. This looks like a fun, action filled film. Here’s the synopsis for Skin Trade.

New Jersey detective, Nick Cassidy (Dolph Lundgren) heads to Bangkok where he teams up with Thai detective, Tony Vitayakui (Tony Jaa) to hunt down Viktor Dragovic (Ron Perlman) and destroy his human trafficking network. Nick had inadvertently killed Dragovic’s  son in a sting operation on the New Jersey docks, and Dragovic responded by attempting to kill Nick and his family. Nick miraculously survived the brutal attack, but his wife and daughter were killed. With nothing but vengeance to live for, Nick and Tony traverse their way through the Bangkok underworld in search of the elusive Dragovic. Meanwhile, FBI Agent Eddie Reed (Michael Jai White) is sent in to bring Nick home. But as the crossfire ensues, Nick has to determine who his true allies are.

So if I’m not mistaken, Dolph Lundgren is basically The Punisher, because his character’s back story sounds very similar to the Marvel character’s. Tony Jaa’s fighting style in the beginning of the trailer reminds me of The Transporter, very cool. I thought Jaa was awesome in Furious 7, and I’m glad to see him in more action films, even if their VOD. I mentioned the film’s cast, which also includes Michael Jai White as an FBI agent and Ron Perlman as the villain. I love all these guys as action stars. This is what I want to see from them.

I’m definitely checking this out. I think as an On Demand rental, its worth a watch.

Skin Trade is currently available on Video On Demand and iTunes and hits theaters on May 8th.
