First Look: Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler for ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’

Production has officially began for X-Men: Apocalypse, the next installment into the X-Men franchise following last year’s fantastic Days of Future Past. Over the last few weeks has seen many young actors and actresses cast as the younger version of mutants we’ve seen before, mostly from the original/present day trilogy. One of those young mutants is Nightcrawler, played by Alan Cumming in X2, but played by Kodi Smit-McPhee this time around. To celebrate the the movie officially getting underway, McPhee’s Nightcrawler has been revealed. And yes, it’s as good as you’d imagine.

It’s not known if this is just a concept image or actually Smit-McPhee as the teleporting mutant, but either way it gives a really good look at how Nightcrawler will appear in Apocalypse. In both an image and a pretty cool motion image, check it out:

Looks pretty solid to me. I was never a big reader of the X-Men comics growing up, but from what I know, this look does do justice to the character from the comics. Now the question is, which look is better for fans, Alan Cummings or Kodi Smit-McPhee’s?

Now that filming has begun, look out for much more behind-the-scenes stuff for Apocalypse as director Bryan Singer loves to keep fans involved with his movies, especially when it’s X-Men. Could first looks at Oscar Isaac’s Apocalypse, Ben Hardy’s Angel, Olivia Munn’s Psylocke, and more be on there way as well? Sure as hell hope so!

X-Men: Apocalypse is slated for May 27th, 2016. Directed by Bryan Singer starring Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Oscar Isaac, Rose Byrne, Olivia Munn, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Ben Hardy, and Alexandra Shipp.
