It’s pretty known of the issues behind the Fantastic Four reboot, being called ‘the redheaded stepchild of superhero movies’. But quite honestly, that is now all out the window in my mind. The first trailer for Josh Trank’s superhero movie was actually a pleasant surprise, as it was good enough to get fans and the movie-going audience on its side. Well folks, the second trailer was just released, and it freaking crushes what the first trailer did. If you’re on the fence about this movie, this trailer should change your mind.
Official synopsis:
Fantastic Four, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.
Kicks complete ass, am I right? In a weekend where it saw a brand new trailer released for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the debut trailer for Batman V Superman, 20th Century Fox took a pretty big chance releasing this new trailer for the reboot, but it paid off. I LOVE this trailer. It has everything we’ve always hoped for in a Fantastic Four movie, everything. They may be the Fantastic Four ‘babies’, but those playing the FF seem right at home.
I really like the dark and gritty feel to the first trailer, and as this first trailer does continue that, I enjoyed the hell out of seeing who these characters really are. The intelligence and seriousness of Reed Richards, the somewhat individualistic Sue Storm, the rebellious yet ‘live life to the fullest’ Johnny Storm, and the tough, rough muscle of ben Grimm who is nothing more than a great friend. The trailer digs so much deeper into the movie without really revealing much. It’s very much character driven, letting us know who these people are and what roles they will play. The action will be there, it’s a superhero movie, that’s given. I’m more interested in seeing these actors and their characters on screen together, the back and forth conversations and banter. It does look dark and gritty for a superhero movie, but it definitely has elements of complete fun within it. Instead of just looking forward to it like I was before the trailer, I’m officially sold on it and pretty damn excited for Fantastic Four this summer.
Fantastic Four will be released on August 7th, 2015. Directed by Josh Trank starring Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell, Toby Kebbell, Reg E. Cathey, and Tim Blake Nelson.
