Yesterday the world came to a halt as a brand new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released at the opening panel of Star Wars Celebration Anaheim. Director J.J. Abrams and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy left the stage by giving us all a hugely beautiful trailer for the movie that surely looks like the true return to the galaxy far, far away.
And while the trailer only makes us want so much more (still 8 months away…), a load of juicy goodness was released yesterday! A later post will have that load of juicy goodness in its entirety, while this post is all about slowing that glorious trailer down with screenshots.
Luckily for us, following the release of the trailer, Lucasfilm released certain shots from the trailer as an official image. And even more lucky for us, some come in the IMAX format the scene was shot in. Oh yeah, you’re going to want to check these out!
Here’s the trailer screenshots to start:
I’m sure those screenshots are plenty, but it’s Star Wars, so we always want more! So if those aren’t enough, here are a set of official images thanks to Lucasfilm!
I can look at these all day long. Just like most, Star Wars was my childhood. I grew up on its VHS tapes running over and over again, it’s a dream come true that this movie is happening. It’s still really hard to believe that it’s even happening. And if you read what I had to say when I posted the trailer yesterday, you know my feelings and pure f-ing joy I got from it. The new trailer and the images above are Disney and Lucasfilm beginning that stage where they will gradually release things on The Force Awakens. Although don’t expect another trailer or any other type of footage for some time. Expect to see things like posters, images, interviews, and maybe even official concept art at some point.
If you don’t know, J.J. Abrams is a Star Wars fanatic and understands that feeling of sitting down to watch a Star Wars movie. So what’s that mean for us fans? It’s great news, it means as much as possible and the best stuff will be saved for that incredible moment we sit down to experience The Force Awakens.
If you would like to read more into the trailer and maybe what some things mean, head over to /Film and check out their ‘Over Analyze’ segment, they’ve got some pretty cool things to say. Stay close as I’m sure I’ll be posting much more on Star Wars as it’s Star Wars Celebration this weekend.
