Did This New ‘Terminator: Genisys’ Trailer Just Give Away One of the Biggest Plot Twists of All-Time?

For those who follow the movie world constantly, you know that Terminator: Genisys is going to change it up a bit, like a lot. The movie is going to jump back and take place during the first and second original Terminator movies, but it looks like that ain’t all. It seemed like the big change or twist was the timeline changing and the events from the original Terminator‘s were different, but what just happened in the new trailer for Genisys easily trumps that, while just maybe ruining the movie at the same time.

Official synopsis:

When John Connor (Jason Clarke), leader of the human resistance, sends Sgt. Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to 1984 to protect Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) and safeguard the future, an unexpected turn of events creates a fractured timeline. Now, Sgt. Reese finds himself in a new and unfamiliar version of the past, where he is faced with unlikely allies, including the Guardian (Arnold Schwarzenegger), dangerous new enemies, and an unexpected new mission: To reset the future…

WTF John Connor?! Okay so I’m actually part of the minority that enjoyed the first trailer for Genisys. It seems like a very direction to take and continue the Terminator story, but COME ON, that John Connor plot moment… WTF. I seriously can’t believe that that was put into the trailer. Could you imagine if that plot twist was kept under wraps for when it’s released, how incredible would it have been to see that in the theater? If that is the part of the story that changes the game it was just given away, I’m going to be super freaking bummed out. It’s also worth saying that this spoiler could actually be something minor or have minor impact to what the overall plot is. It’s a slight chance, but that’s what I’m hoping for and hopefully there is still a ton to look forward to.

Other than that ‘WTF, I can’t believe you just showed that!’ moment, the trailer actually kicked some major ass. I thought it was a step in the right direction with this trailer being very entertaining. Each time I see an image or piece of footage, I’m sold more and more on Emilia Clarke being Sarah Connor. The casting was just fantastic, it seems like she’s really embodying the character, just as Linda Hamilton did back in the day. And although many think Jai Courtney is kind of a stone face, I actually enjoy him on screen, for the most part. The trailer really showed him off a bit more and what kind of Kyle Reese he’ll be. Let’s just say that I’m pretty stoked to see Clarke’s Connor, Courtney’s Reese, and Schwarzenegger’s T-800 aka ‘The Guardian’ team up together. And hopefully, just hopefully, this is the present day Terminator sequel we’ve all been hoping and waiting for!

What are your thoughts on the trailer? Did you like seeing that major twist now?
