Late last week was the first official press screening for Avengers: Age of Ultron, which debuted to thunderous applause. And while Age of Ultron is on the tip of everyone’s tongue, it was announced that a brand new trailer for Marvel’s next big MCU installment, Ant-Man, is heading our way. And when I say heading our way, I mean today!
Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
This trailer is AWESOME. The first trailer wasn’t bad, but this one is such an incredible improvement. It digs so much deeper into the world of Ant-Man and teases us perfectly with what the movie is about. And this time there’s much more action, and some badass action at that. We get full looks at Ant-Man in action, what his powers are, and him using them. If you were wondering ‘why Ant-Man?’, this trailer should clear that up easily. It looks like it could be so much fun and different from the normal MCU movies we know, Guardians of the Galaxy like. Ant-Man is one of this summer’s biggest movies to look forward to.
Along with the fantastic new trailer, a brand new image has been released which gives us our first look at the movies villain, Yellowjacket. Darren Corss/Yellowjacket is being played by Corey Stoll, and whether or not he’s actually in the suit in the image, it’s a freaking great look at the character and his suit battling our titular hero. Yes, you read that right. If you haven’t already noticed, squint your eyes towards that little leaping figure just in front of Yellowjacket’s left shoulder and you’ll find our ant-sized hero.
As for the suit, it’s so cool. We’ve seen the suit in some concept art over the past few months, but it looks so freaking cool in real-life. And the footage of Yellowjacket above? COME ON. He can definitely become one of the cooler and cooler looking villains of the MCU.

And don’t worry, this is a fair fight. Although tiny, Ant-Man packs a big punch. Here’s what director Peyton Reed had to say about Ant-Man and Yellowjacket’s specific strengths while talking with EW:
“Hank Pym’s Ant-Man suit doesn’t have a single weapon, whereas Yellowjacket is armed with plasma cannons… Ant-Man is very fast when he’s small… Also, when he shrinks, he increases his density, so he’s got increased strength.”
It’s obvious that when it was announced Ant-Man would be hitting the big screen, many were scratching their heads wondering why and how something like Ant-Man would work. It’s just my opinion but it totally can. In the comics, Ant-Man is a centerpiece for the Avengers, I mean he did discovered them. And I know that what’s in the comics doesn’t have a big impact on what happens in the movies, but when Ant-Man crushes this summer, it’ll be a new day and age in the MCU. Ant-Man and the world he… shrinks in (had to) could become a pivotal part of the MCU for many years to come.
Ant-Man shrinks into theaters July 17th, 2015. Directed by Peyton Reed starring Paul Rudd, Michael Douglass, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Michael Peña, Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, Wood Harris, Jordi Mollá, Haley Atwell, and John Slattery.
