First Look: The Cast of the ‘Vacation’ Sequel/Reboot

The Vacation franchise, specifically the first Vacation, is almost a standard for all comedies that was set decades ago. The Chevy Chase led comedy is a classic, something that won’t ever be forgotten. It’s always been thought that an eventual reboot of the franchise would happen, with it being many years since the original. Well, it’s happening. But instead of a reboot, it’s almost a sequel that continues the story.

As the franchise got into its later movies, it hit some hard times. But even with that, this reboot/sequel was able to assemble a pretty damn good cast for this new take. For the most part, there’s very little known about the new Vacation and how they’ll continue the story from the old movies, but there’s still a ton of interest around the project for those who know it’s coming.

You can see Ed Helms, Christina Applegate, Chevy Chase, Beverly D’Angelo, Styler Gisondo, and Steele Stebbins in the first image below, check it out:

It also features Chris Hemsworth, Lisa Mann, Charlie Day, and Michael Peña. It’s pretty cool to see Chevy Chase in the first image, given that he is the originator. The guy has always been unbelievable at comedy, so I’m definitely excited to see what kind of element he can bring to this reboot/sequel.

The one name that does stand out and isn’t pictured is Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth. It’ll be very interesting to see how he fits in to all of this. Ever since he hit the screen, Hemsworth has been working hard at taking different kind of roles. From being Thor to The Cabin in the Woods to Rush and to this year’s In the Heart of the Sea, jumping into an all-out comedy excites the hell out of me. So far, he’s crushed everything, and I have a feeling he’ll have some damn good comedic chops as well.

Here’s a synopsis for Vacation (2015):

Hoping to bring his family closer together and to recreate his childhood vacation for his own kids, a grown up Rusty Griswold takes his wife and their two sons on a cross-country road trip to the coolest theme park in America, Walley World. Needless to say, things don’t go quite as planned.

Vacation has a July 31st, 2015 release date (packed weekend). Starring Ed Helms, Christina Applegate, Chris Hemsworth, Lisa Mann, Charlie Day, Michael Peña, Beverly D’Angelo, and Chevy Chase.
