The reaction to the first trailer for the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton was incredibly positive, far more than some were expecting. It may have been because of that great intro from Dr. Dre and Ice Cube or even that the trailer was red band and they held nothing back. Either way, it’s definitely now on everyone’s radar. It’s not due out for some time, but luckily for us we get to see some more. Here’s a brand new trailer and posters for Straight Outta Compton.
In the mid-1980s, the streets of Compton, California, were some of the most dangerous in the country. When five young men translated their experiences growing up into brutally honest music that rebelled against abusive authority, they gave an explosive voice to a silenced generation. Following the meteoric rise and fall of N.W.A., Straight Outta Compton tells the story of how these youngsters revolutionized music and pop culture forever the moment they told the world the truth about life in the hood and ignited a cultural war.
Although I liked the first trailer a lot more, this trailer is still, really, really solid. The first trailer was very much an introduction into this revolutionizing group, whereas this trailer has us meeting the main members of the group while also digging just a bit deeper into the story.
I’ll be honest, yeah, this wasn’t really on my radar before the first trailer dropped. But this is definitely a story that deserves to be told because of the impact these guys had, and not just on the music industry. And after that first trailer hit, I’m pretty excited to see it.
Here’s a set of new character posters and regular posters. I like how the movie poster is taking the album cover route with the ‘parental discretion is advised’ tagline, a cool and creative touch.
Straight Outta Compton is released on August 14th, 2015. Directed by F. Gary Gary starring O’Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, Neil Brown Jr., Aldis Hodge, and Paul Giamatti.
