Through the first three months of 2015, we’ve only gotten a handful of movies that were truly worth watching, ones that were really good. But now we can start getting down to business. In 2014, the summer movie season was moved from May to April with the unbelievableĀ Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and that continues in 2015. April has a damn good list of titles throughout the month, but here are the four I’m looking forward to the most.
4.Ā Kill Me Three Times
Professional hit-man Charlie Wolfe finds himself in three tales of murder, blackmail and revenge after a botched contract assignment.
One, I really enjoy watching Simon Pegg. Two, Teresa Palmer, duh. Three, it just looks awesome. It looks likeĀ crazy and outrageousĀ fun. Plus like I said, I can watch Simon Pegg in anything. Whatever he touches, sign me up.
Kill Me Three TimesĀ is released onĀ April 10th, 2015.
3.Ā Child 44
A disgraced member of the military police investigates a series of nasty child murders during the Stalin-era Soviet Union.
I only first heard about this when the first trailer was released, and man did it catch my eye quick. Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, and Noomi Rapace starring in a movie based in a time period like this one? It looks dark, interesting, and something that could you make you cringe while watching but just can’t look away from.
Child 44Ā comes out onĀ April 17th, 2015.
2.Ā Ex Machina
A young programmer is selected to participate in a breakthrough experiment in artificial intelligence by evaluating the human qualities of a breathtaking female A.I.
This is without a doubt the one on the list that most of you have not heard of.Ā Ex Machina is a smaller movie that has been getting incredible, incredible praise as its been screened through the festival season. This one is very high up on my 2015 list and I’ve just been waiting and waiting for it. I’ve heard and read some things that happen and how the story goes and I couldn’t be anymore psyched. I wouldn’t be surprised if this ends up high on my top 10 list at the end of the year.
Ex MachinaĀ is in theatersĀ April 10th, 2015.
1. Furious 7
Deckard Shaw seeks revenge against Dominic Toretto and his family for the death of his brother.
How can this not be at the top? It would be number one no matter what, but the fact that after its press screenings critics are just raving about how freaking good it is and how damn well it sends Paul Walker off. The action, the stunts, the stakes, it’s all bigger. It’s the first ‘big’ movie of the year and I couldn’t be anymore excited that it is.
Furious 7 hitsĀ April 3rd, 2015.
Honorable mentions:Ā The Water Diviner andĀ True Story.
Which April release are you most excited for?
