While many were… baffled with the casting of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, I for one very much liked the idea. Yeah, it’s a bit odd to imagine Eisenberg standing as a big villain against not just Henry Cavill’s Superman, but Ben Affleck’s Batman as well. But even with that, we still don’t know what version of Lex we’ll get. There’s been rumblings of course, but we won’t officially know until an official synopsis or trailer. Until we get that opportunity, which might actually be sooner rather than later, Entertainment Weekly has released the first official look at Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.

The most recent incarnation of Luthor from the comics has him much older and bigger than what we expect to see with Eisenberg. But for some time now we haven’t expected that. With all the rumors and speculation revolving around Eisenberg’s Luthor, it seems like we’ll be getting a Lex who’s greatest asset is his intelligence, instead of his physical nature.

But like I said, we won’t officially know until we see some footage on the dude. Until then, here’s first look image I was talking about:

He looks awesome, he really does. We all know what Eisenberg is able to do when he’s given a juicy character (The Social Network‘s Mark Zuckerberg for example), so the question always was whether or not he can look the part. Well, this image clearly answers that.

I’m ecstatic on the thought of seeing Eisenberg bring this character to life, more than likely the darkest and most serious Luthor we’ve seen yet. It’s understandable to have doubts, but you should be damn excited to see Eisenberg’s Luthor come to life. And if the latest rumor turns out true, we are all in for a real treat.
