More ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Casting: Josh Gad as Le Fou

If this isn’t a spot on casting, then I don’t know what is! According to The Hollywood ReporterJosh Gad is in final negotiations to play the villain Gaston’s (Luke Evans) sidekick in Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. The movie is already set to star Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast, this casting will just add to an already stellar and perfect cast to portray these characters.

Those who have seen the 1991 animated version of Beauty and the Beast know how Le Fou was clumsy and served as a comedic relief to the dark aspect of the story. That is exactly what Josh Gad will bring to this film, which I’m assuming will have very dark elements. To have a guy like Gad there to crack some jokes among all the love and violence is genius on Disney’s end. We recently saw Josh Gad in The Wedding Ringer and while the movie wasn’t great it wasn’t bad in my opinion and part of the reason it worked was Josh Gad and his comedic stardom.

I have my eye on this Beauty and the Beast adaptation as the original film is one of my favorites from my childhood. What do you all think of the casting? Do you think it’s spot-on like me? Let us know in the comment section.

Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast is expected in theaters some time in 2016.

    • There is no official release date but it is expected in 2016. I can’t wait either! Out of all the Disney adaptations coming, I am looking forward to this one the most. I hope they don’t ruin it.

      • I do, too! I bet Dumbo will be awful. Still can’t believe they want to do a live action movie of that. Why Dumbo? Why not I different movie?

      • Yea I thought Dumbo was an odd choice as well. The main character is an elephant and idk how they’re going to do that an entire movie. We’ll see. I think they should try Aladdin or Mermaid.
