The one and only post I have on Ex Machina came for the first trailer and a batch of posters that were released, and I raved about trailer and what the movie could be. In an age where we see many, many artificial intelligence movies, I don’t think I’ve been more excited for one more than Ex Machina, other than Avengers: Age of Ultron that is. It looks intelligent and gripping on so many levels, a movie that could truly leave a mark on those who watch it. The latest trailer for Ex Machina only teases that and if you aren’t already excited for it, you’ve got to be now.
Official synopsis:
Caleb, a 26 year old coder at the world’s largest internet company, wins a competition to spend a week at a private mountain retreat belonging to Nathan, the reclusive CEO of the company. But when Caleb arrives at the remote location he finds that he will have to participate in a strange and fascinating experiment in which he must interact with the world’s first true artificial intelligence, housed in the body of a beautiful robot girl.
What an amazing trailer, right? I have a feeling the trailer only scratches the surface of what it’s hinting at, which is a really good thing. I can’t talk about Ex Machina without mentioning the incredible cast. Of course there are the two Star Wars newbies in Domhnall Gleeson and Oscar Isaac, who have both done nothing but climb the ladder of the actor list. But in my mind, the dark horse is Alicia Vikander. She is very much an unknown, but I have personally seen her in a few movies so far (Son of a Gun and the upcoming The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) and she’s been great. She has the talent to be really, really good, And for her to nab and take a role like this one, she could very well be on everyones radar after this release.
