Rumor Central: Marvel Produced “Spider-Man” Film Finds Its Director In Drew Goddard

Spidey

If this report is true, and Drew Goddard is indeed directing the first Marvel/Sony produced “Spider-Man”, then you have to be excited about this. The report is coming from Latino Review, which claims the Cabin In The Woods director will be the one to kick off another re-telling of the Wall Crawling superhero.

Prior to the major announcement of Spider-Man joining the MCU, Goddard was attached to directing a Sinister Six spin-off film. Those plans are still in works, but could be awhile until it hits the big screen. As to why the studio(s) chose Goddard, well it was a pretty easy choice. The director has had a long working relationship with director Josh Whedon (Avengers), received critical praise for his directorial effort in The Cabin In the Woods, and was the showrunner and wrote a few episodes for Marvel’s upcoming Netflix series Daredevil. No sense in going out and wasting time and money to search for a director, when the right one is already working for you.

As for story details on the next Spidey film, Latino Review reports that Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man character will be heavily involved. The details state that Iron Man will fight Spider-Man and put him through rigorous tests, as an audition for a spot among The Avengers. This sounds like an awesome idea that will look even more awesome on the big screen.

Expect this report to be confirmed very soon by Marvel or Sony.

Spider-Man is set to release on July 28, 2017.
