4 Movies I’m Looking Forward to in March

Over the last few years it seems like the summer movie season has been slowly moving up month by month. It’s always usually been sometime in May where we really get the summer movie feel, but with the crushing of Captain America: The Winter Soldier in April last year, it officially marked the move up. Now in 2015, it could very well be moving again with March filled with movies that have the potential to give us the summer movie feel. Here are the ones I’m looking forward to the most.

4. Run All Night

An aging hitman is forced to take on his brutal former boss to protect his estranged son and his family.

If the leading man was anyone but Liam Neeson, I probably wouldn’t be as excited for it because it’s a basic revenge story. But the fact that it stars the ass kicking Liam Neeson, all I want to do is watch it to see Neeson kick ass like he always does. Plus the cast around Neeson is really solid, which will hopefully make for a fun and entertaining action movie.

Run All Night opens March 13th, 2015.

3. The Gunman

A former Special Forces soldier and military contractor suffering from PTSD tries to reconnect with his long time love, but first must go on the run from London to Barcelona and across Europe in order to clear his name.

If it wasn’t for Keanu Reeves and his completely badass John Wick of last year, I probably wouldn’t be interested in this at all. If I didn’t see what Reeves was able to do with that role and movie, I probably couldn’t see Penn in this role. But luckily, John Wick happened and was one of the best, not just action, but overall movies of last year – getting me pretty excited for what The Gunman could be.

The Gunman opens on March 20th, 2015.

2. Chappie

In the near future, crime is patrolled by an oppressive mechanized police force. When one police droid, Chappie, is stolen and given new programming, he becomes the first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself.

I’ve expressed my feelings toward Neill Blomkamp and his movies before, but that doesn’t mean I don’t look forward to his stuff. He creativity and style is something I want to love, but haven’t yet. So at this point, I’m just looking for something of his that I will like and I really do hope Chappie will be that movie, especially now with the news that Blomkamp’s next project is a new Alien.

Chappie is in theaters March 6th, 2015.

1. It Follows

For nineteen-year-old Jay, Autumn should be about school, boys and week-ends out at the lake. But after a seemingly innocent sexual encounter, she finds herself plagued by strange visions and the inescapable sense that someone, something, is following her. Faced with this burden, Jay and her friends must find a way to escape the horrors that seem to be only a few steps behind.

I just heard of this weeks back, in a big way. Word coming our of Sundance is that this is one of the best horror movies in year, which is exactly what I’ve been looking for. There hasn’t been a horror movie that has really scared me on a long time and I’m hoping It Follows is that. Plus, my excitement only intensifies when the word out of films biggest festival is over the top positive.

It Follows hits March 13th, 2015.

Honorable Mentions: Cinderella, Spring, Get Hard, and Unfinished Business.
