First Look: Jason Mamoa as Aquaman in “Batman V Superman”

Aqua

I can’t express how excited I am to see this character’s debut in Batman V Superman. The Aquaman character didn’t become a huge significance for me, until the casting of Jason Mamoa was announced. It was the idea of a modern version of “The Atlantean King” being played by a Pacific Islander that I found as an ideal fit for Zack Snyder’s universe.

You won’t hear any complaints from me regarding this photo. Initially, my hope was to see some type of tribal tattoos that carry spiritual representation and symbolize strength. The markings on his skin and the armor desgin look incredible. If I’m looking at this correctly there’s a bit of gold coloring on his armor and some green beneath the “A” insignia, which may give a wink to the character’s widely known costume colors (Gold and Green). The tagline “Unite The Seven” could have one of two meanings. Either Aquaman unites the seven seas, which was my first thought, or it could be that Snyder is hinting at the unification of the seven founders of the Justice League. I’m going with the latter on this one.

Aquaman is expected to have no more than a cameo role in Batman V Superman, with a solo film announced for 2018.

Batman V Superman hits theaters on March 25, 2016
