The horror genre is one of the most loved movie genres of today. But unfortunately for us real movies fans, they are churned out more than any other genre, making it difficult to get a good one. Over the past few years we’ve gotten some good ones like Insidious, Sinister, The Conjuring, and this year’s The Babadook – but if you count the number of horror movies, that’s a very small sample. Now we get a trailer to a movie that can kick off 2015 horror in a very good way, a movie that can stand among those above, It Follows.
For 19-year-old Jay, fall should be about school, boys and weekends out at the lake. But after a seemingly innocent sexual encounter, she finds herself plagued by strange visions and the inescapable sense that someone, or something, is following her. Faced with this burden, Jay and her teenage friends must find a way to escape the horrors that seem to be only a few steps behind.
I absolutely, without a doubt loved this trailer. It’s that perfect kind of suspense and mystery, while keeping so much of the actual horror back. There is actually only one glimpse of what is actually following the young woman. I can’t tell you how many horror movie trailers I’ve seen where a lot of the good scares or horror moments are given away, so it’s a big relief to see a movie like this – I will definitely be going to the theater for this one.
It Follows is released on March 27th, 2015. Starring Maika Monroe, Keir Gilchrist, Daniel Zovatto, Jake Weary, Olivia Luccardi, and Lili Sepe.
