Most of you probably don’t know that beer tycoon Alfred Heineken was kidnapped back in the early 1980s, which resulted in the biggest ransom ever paid for one individual. The story twist? The kidnap was a total success until the kidnappers had an incredible downfall on the inside. Here’s the first trailer for Kidnapping Mr. Heineken.
In 1983, a group of childhood friends pulled off the crime of the century: kidnapping one of the richest men in the world, the heir of the Heineken beer empire. The shocking capture–by gunpoint in broad daylight on the streets of Amsterdam–resulted in the largest ransom ever paid for a kidnapped individual. It was truly the perfect crime…until they got away with it.
It definitely looks like something that will be worth watching. One would think that a story like this would be fit for a good telling of a action movie, but the director has put a certain European style on it, which really works. Especially for a story that most movie-goers won’t know.
Kidnapping Mr. Heineken will open March 6th, 2015. Directed by Daniel Alfredson starring Jim Sturgess, Sam Worthington, Ryan Kwanten, and Anthony Hopkins.
