German filmmaker Werner Herzog has been writing and directing movies for decades now. A man who has literally put his touch on every type of filmmaking and genre out there. His next project, Queen of the Desert, is an epic historical piece that follows the life of Gertrude Bell. The first images have now been released.

Nicole Kidman is starring in the project as Gertrude Bell, with James Franco co-starring, as well as Robert Pattinson as T.E. Lawrence, otherwise known as the real Lawrence of Arabia.

A chronicle of Gertrude Bell’s life, a traveler, writer, archaeologist, explorer, cartographer, and political attaché for the British Empire at the dawn of the twentieth century.

Queen of the Desert has no release date as of yet, but is set to premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival. Directed by Werner Herzog starring Nicole Kidman, James Franco, Robert Pattinson, Damian Lewis, and Jenny Agutter.
