In the words of Shang Tsung… “It has begun”. As in I knew this cast was too good to be true, and that somewhere along the way there would be scheduling conflicts with all these big name stars attached to one film. Unfortunately, its one of the bigger names in Tom Hardy who dropped out of the project due to scheduling conflicts.
Reports from The Wrap state that the upcoming film The Revenant will extend its production schedule into March. Once that finishes, Hardy will then have to go on a promotional tour for Mad Max: Fury Road. As tough a loss as this is for a project that I’m looking forward to, both of these reasons are good enough for me to be okay with his departure. The Revenant is being directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, who just did that one small film called Birdman. The project also see Leonardo DiCapro as the co-lead along side Tom Hardy. Then of course, who isn’t excited for Mad Max: Fury Road?
The good news in all of this is that Jake Gyllenhaal is being eyed by Warner Bros to replace Hardy as Rick Flagg. The actor is in incredible shape as evident in the recent photo for his upcoming film Southpaw. Lets hope no one else has to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. I’m looking at you Will Smith!
