For those of you who watch(ed) Sons of Anarchy and always kind of wanting more Shakespeare and just more in general, you’re in luck. Anarchy (previously titled Cymbeline) may not bring Jax and the Sons to the big screen, but it is centered around a biker gang in a small town that’s based on the play about jealousy, love, and betrayal in the British King’s Court. Sounds a bit like Sons, right? Here’s the first trailer for Anarchy.
In Anarchy, Ed Harris plays the head of a drug-dealing biker gang, when the non-sanctioned romance between his daughter and one of his top members sets things off. Dakota Johnson and Penn Badgley play the young couple, Imogen and Posthumus.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Academy Award® nominees Ethan Hawke and Ed Harris lead a powerhouse cast including Milla Jovovich, John Leguizamo, Penn Badgley, Dakota Johnson, Anton Yelchin, with Bill Pullman, and Delroy Lindo in a gritty story of a take-no-prisoners war between dirty cops and an outlaw biker gang. Now, a drug kingpin (Harris) is driven to desperate measures in this explosive film based on Shakespeare’s Cymbeline.
I’m game. It’s an awesome cast line-up with a story and theme that is incredibly interesting to me. Like many, I was a Sons of Anarchy junky, so to see a very similar thing going on with Anarchy, I’m definitely in.
Anarchy opens March 13th, 2015. Starring Ethan Hawke, Ed Harris, Milla Jovovich, John Leguizamo, Penn Badgley, Dakota Johnson, and Anton Yelchin.
