The Fly, A History of Violence, and Eastern Promises – what do they all have in common? David Cronenberg. His films may be twisted in ways beyond anything we’ve imagined, but he’s always found a certain way to make it work. You can just scroll through his filmography and see what I’m talking about. Every time his name is attached to something, people bolt for it. His latest project, Maps to the Stars, has had exactly that happen.
A tour into the heart of a Hollywood family chasing celebrity, one another and the relentless ghosts of their pasts.
It looks and feels like a Cronenberg movie. If any of you don’t know what they look or feel is, I suggest for you to either watch a movie or two of his, or just be excited about what this movie can be. Just like the trailer says, it looks ‘nightmarishly compelling’. Something that can be flat-out entertaining. Plus, how about that cast?!
Maps to the Stars opens February 27th, 2015. Directed by David Cronenberg starring Julianne Moore, Mia Wasikowska, John Cusack, Robert Pattinson, Olivia Williams, and Sarah Gadon.
