Rumor: Is 'Batman v Superman' Being Split into 2 Movies with Part 1 Coming This Fall?

'Batman V Superman' Fan-Made WallpaperWhen Batman V Superman was originally announced, it was scheduled to hit this summer. Then came the announcement of nearly a year push, which led to the rumors of either the studio was prepared that early or that director Zack Snyder wanted to shoot BVS and Justice League back to back. When production started on time, it made the second rumor much more believable. But then it wrapped production basically eighteen months before its scheduled release, and that’s what makes this rumor and image extremely interesting.

Okay so first off, take everything below with a grain of salt. Nothing has been reported or made official, this is without a doubt a rumor at this point. But if this ends up being true and confirmed, IF, then Warner Bros. and DC are set to throw us all for a huge loop in splitting Batman V Superman into two films with the first part hitting theaters this fall!

The story first came from Ain’t It Cool News, where the image below popped up on Imagur this morning, with the image said to be attached to the much anticipated teaser trailer that may or may not be released next month. Here’s the image!

Now, this can VERY EASILY be something that someone put together themselves, but stay with me for a second. If you stop and think about it, it kind of makes sense, if true! Like I was talking about above, production wrapping eighteen months before a scheduled release is very unusual. It’s not going to take Warner Bros. and DC eighteen whole months for post-production, at least it shouldn’t. And with those reports that Snyder wanted to shoot BVS and Justice League back to back, could it have in fact been BVS Part 1 and Part 2 instead? Just stop and think about that one for a second.

Another thing is that it would be downright genius. But the time we watch BVS, whether it’s this fall or next spring, it would be over two years since the last time we saw a DC superhero on the screen. Both Marvel and Fox are ramping up their schedules like mad men. Marvel has been steadily released two a year and after Fantastic Four this summer, Fox is jumping up to three a year in 2016 – so it’s easy to see how DC movies can be overshadowed by these other movies. So how do you increase the hype and excitement? Exactly this.

With the rumor that the BVS trailer could be attached to Jupiter Ascending next month, and IF in fact that trailer announces Part and Part 2 with the first coming this fall, it fits that ‘first marketing’ timeline that usually happens. The hype and excitement would be through the roof because of waiting an entire year for Warner Bros./DC to really kick off their Cinematic Universe, it would be kicked off in eight months time with the next coming just five months after. Yeah, genius.

Although I would be off the charts excited to see this happen, I’m taking all this extremely cautiously until I hear something official. But for fanboy sake, how awesome would this be? On top of the reasons above, it would make total sense for the story side of it. Enter the Knight would be exactly what we’ve been wanting, the Batman vs Superman side of it, the fight front and center. It would be a full movie of DC’s two heavyweights going at it. Then that leading into Dawn of Justice, where the Justice League and many new characters get their own film while the two would still be tied together for an overall arc. Yeah, genius, right?

Until there is anything official or confirmed from someone important, us fans can just have fun with it as of now. What would you think if this ended up true? Would you like two parts or would you rather it be one movie instead?

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice currently has a March 25th, 2016 release date. Directed by Zack Snyder starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, Scoot McNairy, Jeremy Irons, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Holly Hunter, Tao Okamoto, and Callan Mulvey.

  1. I would want two parts mainly because it means I get to see this movie earlier, and I get to see more of it, but obviously I wouldn’t want it in two parts if it meant the actual story telling got dragged out and made worse in an effort to split the film into 2 parts. But most likely this is fake anyways but man it would be ambitious of Warner Bros if they announced this!
