Ever since the first trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron dropped a few months back, we have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting on any kind of word towards a new trailer. Most of us figured it would be during an episode of Marvel’s Agent Carter TV show or during the Super Bowl in February, because it makes sense. But now we officially know when the second trailer is coming, as Marvel snuck in a pretty cool announcement.
Earlier tonight saw the first College Football Semi-Final game at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California – and while everyone was very much into the game, Marvel did what they do best and snuck in one great teaser announcement for the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Instead of dropping the new trailer during an episode of their TV show (like the first one was planned) or using the Super Bowl as many movies do (and will), Marvel will use the College Football version of the Super Bowl. Announcing that the new trailer for AU will be released during the College Football National Championship game on Monday, January 12th.
Here’s the teaser announcement:
Okay, so the best thing about this is obviously that a new trailer for the sequel to the biggest superhero movie ever is less than two weeks away. But something that can’t go without being talked about is that nobody saw it coming! If anyone did, it was kept under wraps perfectly because when I noticed what it was, I jumped off the couch in extreme excitement.
Another thing that can be added is that this is so damn smart by Marvel. It wouldn’t have been as effective during an episode of Agent Carter, and instead of using the Super Bowl along with a number of other movies, Marvel and their Avengers: Age of Ultron will have the College Football National Title Game all to themselves with millions of people watching. Meaning their movie will be talked about most, right behind the game itself. Now that sounds like a premiere!
On top of the trailer announcement, Marvel released another official image for AU. This image has now costumes or powers involved, instead showing ‘the calm before the storm’, literally. From what we’ve seen and heard, this party that takes place at Avengers Tower is the exact moment Ultron becomes Ultron.
Below you can see Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Don Cheadle as James Rhodes, Claudia Kim as a Scientist/Doctor, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, and Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff.
