‘Knight of Cups’ Starring Christian Bale- Trailer & Thoughts

Christian Bale is shaping up to be one of the greats of this generation (like you didn’t know that already), and one thing I think is important when considering all-time great actors, is range. A great actor should be able to do a variety of genres from a huge blockbuster, like The Dark Knight , to a smaller release Oscar-bait film like American Hustle. Bale has proven to be multi-talented while giving us a wide range of filmography and his next release, Knight of Cups, goes to show he has no limits as shown in the recently released trailer (see above).

To be honest, I wasn’t aware of this movie until recently when I saw the trailer and I’m glad I watched it because Knight of Cups looks like the type of movie that I believe Hollywood needs more of. It’s hard to get a sense of the plot details by watching the trailer so for the sake of understanding the story here’s a small synopsis via IMDB:

Once there was a young prince whose father, the king of the East, sent him down into Egypt to find a pearl. But when the prince arrived, the people poured him a cup. Drinking it, he forgot he was the son of a king, forgot about the pearl and fell into a deep sleep.

From watching the trailer I get the sense that this is the type of movie that is very philosophical and makes you think. I really enjoy movies like that because the themes and overall message of the film can be relatable to most people. Knight of Cups specifically seems to carry a message of love, life, not knowing what you want in life and never being satisfied. That is something we can all relate to as human-beings and hopefully this movie can explore those themes effectively while giving us a great film at the same time.

I am now really looking forward to Knight of Cups after watching the trailer and I hope you all are as well. Let us know what you thought of the trailer in the comment section!

Knight of Cups, starring Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and Natalie Portman (amazing cast btw) while being directed by Terrence Malick is slated for a 2015 release with no specific release date yet. Hopefully it comes sooner than later!
