We are only six months away from Avengers: Age of Ultron! We’re all counting down the days until we get to see the most exciting ensemble of comic books characters to date in the follow-up to the most successful comic book movie of all time. Just weeks ago we got our first look at the movie with the first official trailer, and it blew our minds. One big element was missing, the Vision. It makes sense to hold him back for the final trailer, but before that happens, here’s a great look at him (with the team) in a new promo image!
The Vision is being played by Paul Bettany, who is also the voice of JARVIS, Tony Starks artificial intelligence. In the comics, the humanoid Vision is created by the extreme artificial intelligence Ultron (baddie of Age of Ultron) to have a partner in crime. Vision eventually realizes what Ultron is and becomes a core member of the Avengers team for many years to come.
In the movie universe, it’s expected that either Ultron or Tony Stark will take Starks artificial intelligence buddy JARVIS and create Vision from him (hence having Bettany be both JARVIS and Vision). So far we have seen or heard no signs of Vision actually being a bad guy. But if the movie stays true to the comics, we will see Vision start out as an enemy alongside Ultron for at least a little bit, and then join the team to take him down, which is why we’ve seen Vision as an Avenger in promos.
We won’t know for sure what the plan Kevin Feige and Joss Whedon have in store for Vision until he (hopefully) shows up in the next trailer, if not then, then when the movie hits in May. Until then, here’s the new promo:
I’ve got to say, he looks completely badass. While his look has great resemblance to the comics, Whedon has put his own little twist on him and it couldn’t have turned out better. Vision is definitely one of the more interesting characters, and it’ll be extremely interesting to see how he interacts and fits in with the team. I for one can’t wait to see him in action and what kind of powers he holds, and hopefully he’s in the future plans of the MCU.
