The 2012 cult classic Pitch Perfect has a following like no other, especially among women. It was one of the best comedies of that year, and can still hold up today – it’s just flat-out hilarious. With two very talented young names like Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson leading the first, they are now back for the sequel along with the rest of the aca-pitches as they try to conquer the world in the latest promos and first trailer for Pitch Perfect 2.

The director of the first, Jason Moore, didn’t come back for the sequel. Most of the time, many people would take that as a bad sign. But not this time, as Elizabeth Banks took over the reins to direct. Banks has an incredible feel on screen, I’m extremely excited to see what she can do from behind the camera. Plus, who knows this world better than someone who actually starred in it?

As much as you’re hoping to laugh your ass off during the sequel, it won’t just be that. Director Banks looks to be adding a bit more of emotion and seriousness alongside the jokes this time around. Which was definitely part of the success formula the original had.

Pretty aca-awesome, right? I personally love that it opens with Cups, that incredibly popular song from the original sung by Anna Kendrick. But then of course, it just gets all kind of crazy once that ends. It’s tease after tease to what’s to come for the Barden Bellas.
