Ridley Scott’s Exodus movie is exactly one month away now and today saw its final trailer released. Just a few years back and we would be pretty excited about a Ridley Scott movie, but over those few years he has made some stinkers taking away that ‘benefit of the doubt’ card. And although it is Scott, Christian Bale, Joel Edgerton and a few others attached to the movie – it personally just hasn’t hit the spot for me. I will be there opening night, but I’m questioning it for sure. Check out this new trailer, maybe it’ll change your mind.
The defiant leader Moses rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses, setting 600,000 slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of every name attached to this movie. Scott, Bale, Edgerton, and Sigourney Weaver, Ben Kingsley, and Aaron Paul? It does give me some incredible hope, but I just feel like it’s a bit ‘white-washed’ per-say. I would love to see both Bale and Egerton go head to head any day of the week, but portraying Egyptians? It just doesn’t really work. I wish Scott would have done what Paul Greengrass did with Captain Phillips, the authenticity is what made the film so great. But, I’m still holding my breath as it definitely looks like an epic tell of Moses.
Exodus: Gods and Kings opens in theaters on December 12th, 2014. Directed by Ridley Scott starring Christian Bale, Joel Edgerton, Sigourney Weaver, Aaron Paul, Ben Kingsley, John Turturro, Indira Varma, and María Valverde.
