Kevin Feige Confirms 'Age of Ultron' Ends with an Altered Avengers Roster!

Marvel Comics 'Avengers'A while back there was a rumor floating around on how Avengers: Age of Ultron could possibly end. It was just something about Captain America assembling a new Avengers team (possibly Secret Avengers?) after something happens with the current team, no big deal. Now at the time it was just a rumor, until that whole Robert Downey Jr. joining Captain America 3 for a Civil War storyline thing popped up, then it became real. Well, it just became more real as Marvel Studios Godfather (President) Kevin Feige talks about that possibility.

Now that we know the newest characters being brought into the MCU are Ant-Man and Doctor Strange, at some point they will join a team. On top of that, there have been rumors for a long time now that the likes of Ms. Marvel and Black Panther will be making their first big screen appearances (just cameo’s) in next year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.

We actually might have gotten confirmation for Black Panther as Andy Serkis popped up in the Age of Ultron trailer with a very peculiar look (read here).

We can expect that will be kept as quiet as possible – Marvel, Feige, and Whedon will for sure want that to be one of the biggest surprises of the Avengers sequel if true. Back to that whole two team thing though, Feige had this to say in an interview with BuzzFeed:

“The Avengers films, ideally, in the grand plan are always big, giant linchpins. It’s like as it was in publishing, when each of the characters would go on their own adventures and then occasionally team up for a big, 12-issue mega-event. Then they would go back into their own comics, and be changed from whatever that event was. I envision the same thing occurring after this movie, because the (Avengers) roster is altered by the finale of this film.”

You can read about the possible Age of Ultron ending here.

What Feige has stated above definitely goes along the lines of the rumor that floated around a few weeks ago. So not only will we be seeing Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch joining the team, but we could possibly be seeing even more characters right as A2 ends. Most likely some smaller role characters from pervious movies (Sif, War Machine, and Falcon) and newer ones making their first appearances.

Like I said above, the rumor stated that “Cap will assemble a team that is a mix of familiar and new faces, leading forward into Phase Three.” Familiar faces could consist of such names like Black Widow, Hawkeye (who’s been rumored for Cap 3), War Machine, and Falcon (I believe both should become bigger in the MCU). New faces could be the ones who are joining this team, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and Vision (who we have yet to see). But could also include Ant-Man and Doctor Strange, which saw Benedict Cumberbatch cast as Strange today and who was name dropped in a Captain America movie. Then there are those rumored characters (who will definitely be the next two brought to the MCU) Ms. Marvel and Black Panther, and whenever they do show up, I have no doubt they will (and should be) on Cap’s side.

Possibly even a name or two from Coulson’s team on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Mockingbird maybe?

Marvel's 'Civil War'

It’s pretty much a lock at this point that that team does not have Iron Man. With RDJ reconstructing his contract to stay on as Tony Stark and in the MCU, and with his signing on to co-star alongside Chris Evans in Captain America 3 for the highly speculated and historically loved Civil War storyline, there’s definitely something that puts them on opposite sides. Whether that is just in Cap 3 or for Avengers 3 and/or Avengers 4, we can speculate at this time that Iron Man should (and probably will) have his own team of Avengers at some point.

Everything above is pure personal opinion of myself and others, what we think will happen and what the Avenger (Avengers and Secret Avengers) team could look like. At this point, other than Captain America and Iron Man, any character now and in the future can end up on any team. So far, the ties and chemistry between each of them is the same. But that for sure will change come May, as Kevin Feige and Joss Whedon have both said multiple times that the team as a whole is tested and sides may be flipped.

At this point two things are clear, we will without a doubt know where team member allegiances are and where the MCU is headed following Avengers: Age of Ultron this May.
