In Theaters This Week (Oct. 17): ‘Fury’, ‘The Book of Life’ and ‘Birdman’

October can be a good month for movies since we get a mixture of early Oscar contenders, as well as some horror and Halloween based films. This week we see the release of Brad Pitt’s new film ‘Fury’, a day-of-the-dead inspired ‘Book of Life’ and the ever so relevant ‘Birdman’ film starring Michael Keaton. Take a look at the three releases below:

Fury directed by David Ayer, Starring Brad Pitt, Shia LeBeouf, Micheal Pena and Logan Lerman.

This is one of my most anticipated movies of October and I’m hoping it’s good enough to get some Oscar attention.  Fans of Brad Pitt and war epics should be looking forward to this one.

The Book of Life directed by Jorge R. Gutierrez, voiced by Diego Luna, Zoe Zaldana and Channing Tatum.

This is obviously a film made for October but it shouldn’t just be a film for children and families.  People who are a part of, or just interested in, the Hispanic culture surrounding the-day-of-the-dead should be in for a treat.  I am interested in seeing this one myself.

Birdman directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, Starring Michael Keaton, Emma Stone, Edward Norton and Zach Galifianakis.

‘Birdman’ will be a limited release but it is probably the movie I would like to see most on this list.  The significance of this subject matter couldn’t be more so due to the superhero genre being as popular as it is today.

Well, there you have it.  The top three releases of the week that we recommend.  What will you guys be seeing? And if you do see one of these films, let us know what you thought in the comment section.
