New Clips for 'Nightcrawler', 'John Wick' & 'White Bird in a Blizzard'

Jake Gyllenhaal in 'Nightcrawler'This month is full of good looking movies, at least two each week. There is definitely one or two that will be in the Oscar race come next year, but the rest of them just look like damn good movies. Included in that group is NightcrawlerJohn Wick, and White Bird in a Blizzard – each with newly released clips.

Nightcrawler stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Lou Bloom, a young man who comes across the underground world of L.A. freelance crime journalism. Co-starring is Rene Russo, Bill Paxton, Ann Cusack, and Riz Ahmed.

This isn’t just high on my list for October, but for the entire fall. I’ve become a huge fan of Gyllenhaal as he has really made some damn good career choices. Every movie he does shows off a different side of acting he has, making him one of todays true movie stars. It looks like an absolute thrill ride from start to finish.

Nightcralwer opens October 31st.

John Wick stars Keanu Reeves as an ex-hitman, John Wick, who comes out of retirement to track down the gangsters who took everything from him. Co-starring is Michael Nyqvist, Alfie Allen, Willem Dafoe, Dean Winters, and Adrianne Palicki.

Since the moment I saw the first trailer, before I saw all the early reviews, I’ve been waiting for this one. Keanu Reeves looks like he is back at kicking ass and the word is that this is the best overall action movie of 2014. The action and fight sequences look so entertaining, I couldn’t be more excited for it.

John Wick will open on October 24th.

White Bird in a Blizzard stars Shailene Woodley as Kat Connor, a teenager who’s life is thrown into chaos when her mother disappears in 1988. Co-starring is Eva Green, Christopher Meloni, Angela Bassett, Thomas Jane, Shiloh Fernandez, and Gabourey Sidibe.

I have actually had the chance to watch this one and let me just say, it was much better than what I expected. There were two things that stood out to me the most. First, Shailene Woodley absolutely kills it. So far, my favorite performances from her are The Descendants and The Spectacular Now, where she is amazing. But I thought she was even better in this, taking her acting to a whole other level and it’s jut fascination. Second was the ending. Throughout the entire movie it kept you thinking and you didn’t really know where it was going, then when you thought you knew what would happen, the ending flipped it and left you speechless. This is a must watch for sure.

White Bird in a Blizzard opens on October 24th.
