DC Movie Universe Schedule Finally Unleashed!

'The New 52' Justice LeagueMarvel dropped an atom bomb earlier this week when news hit that Robert Downey Jr. would be co-starring next to Chris Evans in Captain America 3 to kickstart their famous Civil War storyline in the MCU. Now we didn’t expect to get anything from Warner Bros./DC as they have done enough, I  mean they have a movie titled Batman V Superman. But once again, we are surprised by either Marvel or DC as Warner Bros. and DC have finally released their full slate of movies for their universe, and it’s good!

When we heard the news that Iron Man and Captain America would be going toe to toe, we finally understood why Batman V Superman had its release date changed. But like I said, it didn’t take ling at all for them to respond to Marvel’s big plan. It may not be as good as that incredible Marvel news, but it’s significant to what Warner Bros. and DC are planning for their universe, in fact it is their universe!

These were the release dates officially announced a few months back, just with no titles to the dates:

  • Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice – March 25th, 2016
  • Untitled DC Film – August 5th, 2016 (Shazam?)
  • Untitled DC Film – June 23rd, 2017 (Justice League?)
  • Untitled DC Film – November 17th, 2017 (The Sandman?)
  • Untitled DC Film – March 23rd, 2018 (Green Lantern/Flash or Wonder Woman?)
  • Untitled DC Film – July 27th, 2018 (Man of Steel 2?)
  • Untitled DC Film – April 5th, 2019
  • Untitled DC Film – June 14th, 2019 (The Batman?)
  • Untitled DC Film – April 3rd, 2020
  • Untitled DC Film – June 19th, 2020

This is what it officially looks like following Warner Bros CEO Kevin Tsujihara taking the opportunity to announce them while giving a presentation earlier today:

  • Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice – March 25th, 2016
  • Suicide Squad – August 5th, 2016
  • Wonder Woman – June 23rd, 2017
  • Justice League – November 17th, 2017
  • The Flash – March 23rd, 2018
  • Aquaman – July 27th, 2018
  • Shazam – April 5th, 2019
  • Justice League 2 – June 14th, 2019
  • Cyborg – April 3rd, 2020
  • Green Lantern – June 19th, 2020

Couple of things. First, Shazam isn’t actually coming until much later than expected, a whopping five years. Now the question is whether The Rock’s comic book movie will actually be a part of the DCU.

Two, Wonder Woman is coming much earlier than expected, which is actually pretty good sign. WB must be somewhat happy and pleased with how Gal Gadot is portraying the character and ho the role is turning out. Giving them confidence to be the first JLA member out of the gate following Batman V Superman.

Three is every Justice League member will be getting their own movies. Including the surprise that they are bringing The Flash to their universe (THANK GOD). Aquaman has been officially announced (the actor and movie). The lesser known character of Cyborg (played by ray Fisher, who will be appearing in Batman V Superman) will be getting his own movie, just not until 2020. AND Green Lantern will be getting a complete reboot (very much deserved), just coming much later, which is a smart movie by WB/DC.

I know what your big question is: Where are the solo movies for Supes and Bats? Don’t worry! WB also announced that solo movies for each character are in development for before 2020, just no release dates have been scheduled.

There have also been rumblings about Green Arrow and Martian Manhunter being included in this or the Justice League movies, but at this time there is no news on that front. Now the question becomes whether or not each of these characters will be in the Justice League movie planned for 2017. Will we see the full team of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg, and Green Lantern? Or will Flash and Green Lantern join the team for Part 2? That’s all the news for now, but there will definitely be more on this front in the coming days so stay close!
