A remake of The Gambler directed by Rupert Wyatt has been in the works for some time now. It’s set with a release date for the end of this year, only 2 months away, and we haven’t heard or seen anything on it yet, until now that is. The first images are here.

Mark Wahlberg will star in the lead role with Brie Larson, Jessica Lange, and John Goodman as co-stars. In Wyatt’s version of the story, Wahlberg plays a college professor with a gambling addiction.

The synopsis reads as:

A literature professor with a gambling problem runs afoul of gangsters.

Now that doesn’t say very much, so there will definitely be much more going on. More along the lines of interventions and troubles for the professor. Here are the images:
