New 'Age of Ultron' Image Shows Off Hawkeye's New Digs

'Avengers: Age of Ultron' BannerOne thing is for sure about the first part of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, Hawkeye was easily the furthest from his comic book counter part. Not only was he underused, but we weren’t able to see the real fun, hysterical, food munching Clint Barton that we know and love. We’ve all been wondering when we might see that specific Hawkeye and fortunately for us, that version may be right around the corner.

Since the first details of Age of Ultron have come out, the word has been that those ‘underutilized’ characters from The Avengers which get much bigger roles in the sequel, especially Hawkeye. Many, including me, were somewhat disappointed that Hawkeye was almost a villain for over half the film. Yes, we got to see him flaunt his badassery and be the Hawkeye that we wanted when he was given the chance, but it was no where near what the character deserved.

Now, it looks Kevin Feige and Joss Whedon may be utilizing the character like he should be. Not just with having a more serious role in the film, but being in it more and giving him some new digs that are much more like his comic book self – oh and the suit is freaking awesome.

Here’s the image of Jeremy Renner and Joss Whedon on set in what looks like the middle of an action sequence involving Earth’s Mightiest Archer:

The biggest thing is that Hawkeye is now reaping the long sleeved coat. In The Avengers, he was wearing a sleeveless suit, showing off his guns. For all we know, that could still be under the jacket, but the jacket is the important part. It highlights more of Hawkeye’s suit color, purple. It may not be the bright purple in the comics or shows, but it gives him his own identity and look that avid readers might appeal to more.

Other than War Machine joining the ranks, Hawkeye may be the character I am most looking forward to in A2 next May. We all know that Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor will be awesome as always. And after Captain America: The Winter Soldier earlier this year, Black Widow is now daily included in that conversation. It’s always great to see Hulk smash, but I want more on Hawkeye. His backstory, where he’s from, what he’s done; I want to dig more into the character and that’s exactly what we’ll be getting. It’s something I’m really, really looking forward to. Plus, it’s always fun to see Renner kick some more ass.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron will be released on May 1st, 2015. Directed by Joss Whedon starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlet Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Cobie Smulders, Samuel L. Jackson, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Don Cheadle, Anthony Mackie, Haley Atwell (rumored), Josh Brolin (rumored), Paul Bettany, James Spader, and Thomas Kretschmann.
