At the end of Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol, Ethan Hunt (Cruise) is seen sitting and chatting with someone who’s voice sounds familiar. The camera shows Ving Rhames and the audience in the auditorium I’m in starts cheering. That goes to show just how much fans have enjoyed his character in the Mission: Impossible movies. Now, confirmed by Director Christopher McQuarrie, it looks like the franchise co-star will be back for the fifth film in the franchise.
In the Mission: Impossible movies, Ving Rhames plays Luther Stickwell, a fellow IMF agent that works with Ethan Hunt on various missions around the world. His main skill is with a computer, hacking his way to get what the team needs. Besides franchise star Tom Cruise, it’s Ving Rhames who comes to mind when I think of these movies and I could definitely feel his presence missed in Ghost Protocol. I’m excited he’s back and hopes that he gets a significant role.
Also confirmed to return along side Tom Cruise for Mission: Impossible 5 are Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, and reportedly Alec Baldwin. Hopefully we’ll get word on Paula Patton’s status as she was one of the highlights of Ghost Protocol. This cast is starting to have that Fast Five vibe with me. Are you excited Movie Talkers to have Ving Rhames back in a bigger role?
