First Look: Paul Rudd in 'Ant-Man'

Marvel’s Ant-Man has been in development for almost a decade now. Over the last year, it has gone through an incredible amount of trouble and changes, from Director changes to a total script re-write. Now that all the dust has settled, Ant-Man has finally begun production. Even though it’s only been one day, we have our first official image from the movie.

Below, we can see Paul Rudd as Scott Lang a.k.a. Ant-Man. He is seen in some old ratty clothes alongside one beat-up van (total con-man look) under the gorgeous (& close to home or me) Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, which actually turns out to be one awesome looking shot.

As I said above, Ant-Man is now (& finally) in production, giving the beautiful city of San Francisco some love. Along with the image, Marvel did their press release and released an official synopsis for the movie giving us a clear idea into the film.

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Sounds pretty awesome so far, right? I know the photo doesn’t do to much, but I’m liking Paul Rudd in this more serious role the more and more it comes around. Not just that, but the synopsis of the movie sounds pretty damn cool. And a definite turn from what Marvel has done in the past, integrating an odd character in a somewhat odd way into their MCU. I can’t wait to see more on this and can’t wait to see Paul Rudd and other join Marvel’s Cinematic Universe.

Stay close because there will definitely be more on all things Ant-Man in the near and distant future.

Ant-Man is currently in production with a July 17th, 2015 release date. Directed by Peyton Reed starring Paul Rudd, Michael Douglass, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Abby Ryder Fortson, Judy Greer, David Dastmalchian, Wood Harris, John Slattery, Gregg Turkington, T.I., and Matt Gerald.
